Norwegian Air Shuttle, Engine Shutdown

A Norwegian Air Shuttle Boeing 787-800, registration LN-LNH performing flight DY-7088 from Los Angeles,CA (USA) to Stockholm (Sweden), was enroute at FL390 over Greenland about 500nm northwest of Keflavik (Iceland) when the crew needed to shut an engine (Trent 1000) down. The crew drifted the aircraft down to FL240 and decided to divert to Keflavik where the aircraft landed safely about 90 minutes later. The airline reported the crew received indication of a technical malfunction of one of the engines, shut the engine down and diverted to Keflavik. A replacement Norwegian Air UK Boeing 787-900 registration G-CJUL positioned from Oslo (Norway) to Keflavik as flight DY-8986 and is estimated to reach Stockholm as flight DY-7988 with a delay of 11.5 hours.
